On Wednesday, May 29, 2024, The Transition Institute 1.5 was pleased to organize its second Forum in Paris, focusing on the theme “African Perspectives on Climate Change“. [Original title in French: “Regards Africains sur les Changements Climatiques”].
The event took place at the École des Mines Paris – PSL, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. translation into English available.

Explore African perspectives on climate change during our conference
This conference day aimed to shed light on African perspectives on an international issue that was often dominated by voices from the Global North: the challenges related to climate change. The Forum TTI.5 proposed to discuss these issues through the lens of experts, public decision-makers, and opinion leaders from different regions of Africa. They shared with us their insights, expertise, and experiences.
Africa is one of the continents most vulnerable to the effects of climate change, despite its low contribution to global greenhouse gas emissions. Climate change has profound implications for development, food security, public health, political and economic stability, as well as biodiversity and ecosystems.
African voices are increasingly present on the international stage, advocating for more ambitious global climate action, greater climate justice, and equitable participation in international climate negotiations.
During this day, we explored three crucial issues with our guest experts:
1. Mitigation of climate change
2. Adaptation
3. International negociation

The Second Forum TTI.5 « Regards Africains sur les Changements Climatiques » was organized by The Transition Institute 1.5 – an interdisciplinary research institute at Mines Paris – PSL – led by Nadia MAÏZI. The organizing team consisted of: Sabrina BEKLI (Educational Coordinator), Claire CAUMEL (Project Manager in charge of coordination), Alice SPASARO (Administrative and Scientific Dissemination Officer), and Cédric STANGHELLINI (Communications Officer). The presentation was delivered by Sébastien JOANNÈS (MAT Mines Paris – PSL) and Oriane SENNINGER (CEMEF Mines Paris – PSL).

The 1st edition of the Forum TTI.5
Last year, The Transition Institute 1.5 organized its inaugural TTI.5 Forum. This conference day was dedicated to the Security Challenges of Climate Change.
During this day, which took place on May 29, 2023, at the Maison de l’Océan in Paris, numerous speakers contributed to the issues discussed at this first TTI.5 Forum.
